I was so pumped when the Canon 6D Mark II rumors were pouring out and when it was announced. Then, early reports concerned me about the image quality; however, I was also a little hopeful that the numbers and charts wouldn’t necessarily reflect real world experience. After using the 6D Mark II for a few weeks, I’m disappointed to say that the images produced by the Canon 6D Mark II are as bad as the number and charts suggest. [Read more…]
DP Review has published its in-depth review of the new Canon 6D Mark II. It praises the camera for its high image quality capability; however, it finds that the 6D Mark II falls well short of the competition:
The only thing that makes the EOS 6D II stand out is Dual Pixel AF, which turns out is only of real value in this camera when shooting single shots of slow-moving subjects or HD video.
I still want to give the camera a go myself but the dynamic range results are incredibly dissapointing to me. I just expected more out of this camera, which seems to echo DP Review’s sentiments in its review. You can read the full review here at DP Review.
B&H has some configurations of the new Canon 6D Mark II now in stock. The 6D Mark II is Canon’s most affordable full frame camera, featuring a 26.2MP sensor and a 45-point AF system, among other solid features. Kit options include either the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens or the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
I was pretty pumped with the Canon 6D Mark II was announced. It wasn’t announced with a lot of fanfare for its video quality and there was no 4K video under the hood. However, it looked like THE full frame camera to have if you were a serious photographer on a budget. Unfortunately, early tests are starting to show that the dynamic range is rather lackluster for a full frame camera in 2017. [Read more…]
The Canon 6D Mark II is officially here and it’s almost everything we hoped it would be. The original Canon 6D went a long way to making the full frame DSLR format more accessible than previously possible. The 6D Mark II carries that mantle forward with an impressive set of photography features. [Read more…]
The Canon 6D Mark II has been a very leaky camera. Now, we’ve got photos and leaked specs of the upcoming camera.

In the last rumor update on the Canon 6D Mark II, I was hoping that the 6D Mark II would come in at or below the $2100 price point of the original Canon 6D. New credible info from Canon Rumors reveals that the retail price will be $1,999 when it is officially unveiled next week!
While the 6D Mark II doesn’t look like it has the whiz-bang video features of the 5D Mark IV, it looks like it has some serious chops as a still image shooter. It’s rumored to be a full frame DSLR with a 26MP sensor with a 45-point AF system with all cross-type points.
Of course, the 1080/60p video capture on the full frame sensor is going to do well enough, it’s not quite cutting edge as a 2017 HDSLR. With the updated AF, high-res full frame sensor and sub-$2,000 price, it looks like a well-timed and welcome photography tool at a substantially-discounted price from the state-of-the-art 5D Mark IV.
We should know everything for certain next week on the 6D Mark II’s expected announcement date of June 29.
The Canon 6D Mark II has been on deck for quite a while now and we are starting to see more info leak out with the certification bodies. Additionally, the Canon Rebel SL2 appears to be set to launch with or around the same time of the 6D Mark II in July 2017. [Read more…]
