The recently-rumored Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS has been confirmed through an image and spec leak alongside a new EF 35mm f/2 IS lens. Additionally, the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS lens will be a kit lens for the Canon 6D, which should ship in December. Apparently, the rumored 50mm f/1.4 IS lens will not be making its way out this round.
The EF 24-70mm f/4L IS lens may end up replacing the current 24-105mm f/4L IS as the defacto kit lens for other full frame DSLRs going forward. That’s just speculation; however, the lenses completely overlap. Of course, some will deride a decision to go with the shorter lens as compared to the longer reach offered by the 24-105mm version; however, there’s no denying the reduced footprint and weight around your neck offered by the 24-70mm f/4L IS.
The 24-70mm f/4L IS lens is believed to weigh only 600g, while the 24-105mm f/4L IS weighs in at 670g. Likewise, the 24-70 is believed to be 93mm max length, while the 24-105 max length is 107mm.

I think you got the title of the two lenses mixed up on the specs.
EricB says
The ONLY reason to buy a 24-70 F4 over the 24-105 F4 (which is a great lens) would be to save a little money. However the 24-105 is available quite reasonably discounted. To shave 70g weight is nothing, certainly not worth the loss of extra reach… Speculated price puts it MUCH higher than the 24-105.

R U SERIOUSLY?!!!
disappointed! this two lenses are waste time for everyone who developed and photographers buying it.
No logic.
photographers will buy 24-105 f/ 2.8 and 24-70 f/2.8II
Good luck with research
