Olympus has finally let out word on the official price of the new E-PL3.  The new mirrorless camera is priced at $699 with either the 14-42mm or 17mm kit lens.

The E-PL3 should start shipping in September.  Check availability at B&H Photo and Amazon.com.

I am buying the Pen E-P3, with the 17mm lens for starters. Then the VF-? electronic viewfinder. Next a zoom lens. I was 2 days away from getting the E-P2 when Oly announced the P3. I can’t wait ’til it is available at B&H Photo; I’ll be there as soon as it hits the shelves. Only decision – black or silver. I’ve been anxious to buy one since I tried the P1 at the US Open tennis match where Oly had a tent with the Pen retro cameras & a very knowledgeable staff. I almost bought it on the spot. Actually, I’ve wanted an Oly Pen since around 1962 – patience is a virtue.

For what it’s worth, I’m partial to the silver ones. ;)
