These Sony versions have the same optics and overall construction of these popular lenses in the Canon/Nikon mount counterparts. However, the lens barrel is extended to make up for the additional flange distance required provide a native Sony E-mount.
Nikon has announced the development of the AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens. It is significantly smaller and lighter than comparable camera lenses due to the adoption of Phase Fresnel lens elements. The PF element first appeared in the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR lens (above) back in 2015.

Sigma revealed the price of the recently announced 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens at just $1599. As with other Sigma lenses, I think this is an incredible price point for such a killer lens. I was able to play with it for a bit back at NAB last month and I think its going to be a real hit as a portrait option. [Read more…]
Sigma’s new 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens price has been unveiled at $579 and will ship in Canon and Sigma mounts at the end of May to mid-June (the Sony E mount version is coming later this year).
The new lens offers a full 1:1 magnification with a minimum focus distance of 10.2″. The focus-by-wire design for this lens is apparently incompatible with Nikon’s AF system, so the F mount will be sitting out this round. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
