Well, you can see in the images below what Pentax might have going on with its new flash unit(s) at some point in the probably reasonably near future. Feel free to speculate away. And, if you spot something that jumps out at you, please let us know in the comments. [Read more…]

According to specs being tossed around, the Pentax K-3 will feature a 24MP full frame sensor and a max sensitivity up to ISO 102,400. The early report noted above says that noise “only starts showing up visibly at around ISO 6400.” [Read more…]

The new Pentax MX-1 serious compact camera with a retro flare is in stock and now shipping. The MX-1 sports a 12MP sensor, 4x zoom lens, 1080p HD video and has a fast f/1.8-2.5 lens. Focus and shutter response are very fast for a point and shoot camera. I had a very positive first look at the MX-1 at CES 2013.
Check it out here at B&H and Adorama.

The Pentax MX-1 is a new, retro-styled point and shoot camera with a 1/1.7″ sensor inside at 12MP resolution. It has a robust body, complete with a brass top that will add some character to individual units as they age.
Geared toward prosumers, the MX-1 offers RAW image capture and a fast, f/1.8-2.5 aperture on the 4x zoom lens. And, the 3″ LCD articulates, which makes high and low viewing easier. [Read more…]
