There has been a huge leak of the heavily-rumored GoPro HERO4. The biggest rumors of the 4K video feature in the HERO4 are confirmed in the leak with 30fps available at 4K. (And overall matches closely with previous rumors.)
Another new and much-requested feature in the HERO4 is a built-in display, which will be available on at least one of the new models.
The HERO4 will continue the split of the model line, as was the case with the HERO3+, with a Black and Silver version.
GoPro HERO4 Black
The HERO4 Black edition will be the top of the line pro-oriented model with 4K/30p video and 2x more powerful processor. 1080p also gets a bump up to 120fps and still images can be captured at 12MP for 30fps. Audio is said to be recorded with 2x the dynamic range. Of course, the plastic housing will continue to limit that quality when in use.
Finally, the Black edition will provide more control with manual settings for photos and video. We’ll see exactly how “manual” these settings are once the camera and specs are officially announced.
GoPro HERO4 Silver
The Silver version of the camera won’t get 4K recording; however, it will get a touchscreen display.
Additional features for the Silver include 1080/60p and 720/120p.
GoPro is also believed to announce with the HERO4 a new blackout housing, a more powerful battery, a dual battery charger and more accessories.
No word yet on pricing; however, the official announcement date is rumored to be October 8, 2014. We’ll find out in a couple of weeks….

Any idea if it uses H.265?
The touch screen just sounds like a massive energy drain plus added expense. Most of the time these are on hermits or strapped to the body so not sure how much it would help anyway.

The main feature I want from the a GoPro is a battery to give me genuine all day filming, yes I would like to see sharper optics, higher frame rates, increased resolutions but all that is pointless if you’ve ran out of juice.
When I go skiing I have the normal internal battery and 2 external (which are certainly not small or light) but I still only get about half a days filming. I know it’s cold which has an impact of all batteries but still, I just wish battery tech would make some effort to keep up!
