The Canon Rebel XSi is indeed a worthy successor to the Rebel throne. A camera with the Rebel name has never carried such sophistication, nor so rich a feature-set.

Canon Rebel XSi Review

In keeping with the 18-month life cycle of its consumer DSLRs, Canon announced the 12.2 megapixel EOS Rebel XSi on January 24, 2008 just prior to PMA. Canon also kept the tradition of upgrading the Rebel series by a couple of megapixels, which it has done with every generation since the original EOS Digital Rebel debuted in 2003 at 6.3MP. Canon Digital Rebel XSi Review at Digital Camera Info

Digital Camera Info has posted a review of the new 12.2 megapixel Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. The new Digital Rebel XSi kit comes with an stabilized 18-55mm lens. Canon’s entry-level DSLR now features a 3″ rear LCD panel that’s capable of Live View framing and focusing.

The XSi is more of an evolution than a revolution; the new features it adds over previous Digital Rebels are useful (and generally well executed), but none of them add that much to the experience of using the camera.

Image quality is on a par with the EOS 400D, with noise-free images up to ISO 800 and a very usable fastest speed of 1600, so usable that I don’t understand why the EOS 450D doesn’t also offer ISO 3200.
