Nikon 1 S1

Nikon 1 S1

Nikon took official wraps off the new J3 and S1 mirrorless cameras at CES 2013. The J3 follows the limited-availability of the J2 and the S1 rounds out the bottom-end of the Nikon 1 series lineup.

The Nikon 1 J3 features a 14.2MP CX-format sensor and captures HD video. It retains the peppy AF speed that’s become customary to the Nikon 1 line and sports a 15fps burst capability. The Nikon 1 J3 is equipped with a 10-30mm kit lens and should be available in February for $599.95. Check availability here at B&H Photo.

The Nikon 1 S1 sports a 10.1MP CX-format sensor and captures HD video as well. It has a simpler interface for easier navigation, but still features the fast AF and 15fps frame rate found in the J3. The Nikon 1 S1 is kitted with a 11-27.5mm lens and should be available in February 2013 for $499.95. Check availability here at B&H Photo.

Nikon continues to push its 1 Series mirrorless system, and it looks like CES 2013 will be busy with a pair of new 1 Series camera – the Nikon 1 J3 and Nikon 1 S1.

According to Nikon Rumors, the Nikon 1 J3 will sport a 14MP sensor and otherwise be a slight bump in specs over the recently announced Nikon 1 J2. Additionally, the Nikon 1 S1 appears to be a new entry-level 1 Series model that sports a 10MP image sensor. This will place the J-series as a mid-level model and the V-series will remain the high-end model in the lineup, which is currently filled by the Nikon 1 V2.
