RED Epic Dragon Dethrones the Nikon D800E as Top Sensor in DxO Mark Tests

The 36MP full frame Nikon D800E has been the top dog sensor according to DxO Mark since the camera was first tested back in February 2012. Watch This Fun Slow-Motion Wedding Photo Booth

Wedding photo booths are pretty common. But a slow-motion video booth? A bit less common.

For this fun video booth, Seattle video production company Super Frog Saves Tokyo set up a RED Epic at 160fps with 4 Konova 900 LED lights for some great action shots at a wedding reception.

The result is a viral hit that is sure to result in trend of slow-motion booths in the near future.

RED is Building 6K Dragon Cameras Live at NAB in a Custom-Built Clean Room

In what is probably the wildest thing I have seen thus far at NAB 2013, RED has built a ridiculous clean room for its engineers to perform Dragon camera builds on the show floor – complete with windows for spectators to watch the magic happen.

For a little background, EPIC and SCARLET owners also have the option to upgrade their cameras’ sensors to the 6K Dragon sensor for around $10k. The upgrade program has finally begun with quite the spectacle here at NAB 2013. The EPIC-M Dragon starts at $29k.

Sony Sues RED for Patent Infringement by RED ONE, EPIC and Scarlet Cameras

Round 2 ladies and gentlemen.

Recall a couple months back when RED initiated suit against Sony for patent infringement by Sony’s F65F55 and F5 cinema cameras. RED wanted to literally have Sony’s cameras pulled from shelves and destroyed.

Now, it’s Sony’s turn.

On the eve of NAB 2013, Sony released a statement that it has filed suit against RED for infringing on seven of its patents. [Read more...]

RED Sues Sony Over F65, F55 and F5 Cine Cameras; Seeks to Stop Sales and Have Them (Literally) Destroyed

Here’s some damages you don’t see in your everyday lawsuit… RED is asking a court to have existing Sony cameras destroyed.

RED brought the lawsuit today in federal court against Sony due to the technology inside of Sony’s F65, F55 and F5 cinema cameras – claiming that it infringes on two of RED’s patents. RED is asking the court to force Sony to stop making and selling the cameras and that Sony should surrender all profits derived from the previous sale of the cameras.

Additionally, RED asks the court to force Sony “to deliver up and destroy all infringing cameras.” Ouch. [Read more...]
