Sony HDR-AS15

Sony HDR-AS30V

Sony has added the new HDR-AS30V to is action cam line-up, following the AS15 and AS10 from a year ago. The AS30V adds 1080/60p video capture as a step up for 1080/30p on the HDR-AS15.

This is also the first Sony action cam to feature GPS on board. It can capture single 11.9MP still images, as well as capturing images with interval capture mode.

The HDR-AS30V also captures 720p footage up to 120fps. A Carl Zeiss lens delivers a 170° wide-angle view, along with SteadyShot image stabilization. [click to continue…]

GoPro Hero 3 Coming Soon…

With everybody else dropping new action cams (e.g., Sony, Contour, Polaroid, etc.), it’s high time GoPro brought something new to the market with features like smartphone connectivity and 120fps at 720p as found in the new Sony HDR-AS15.

Photo Rumors notes that a new GoPro Hero 3 is expected by year’s end (as a replacement for the Hero 2) and will be a slimmer model with the expected built-in WiFi.  The new Sony action cams are looking very solid thus far, so GoPro has some serious competition to step up to now…

Sony HDR-AS15 Action Cam

Sony’s new HDR-AS15 and HDR-AS10 action cams are shipping and production models are in the wild now.  I’ve had a little time this evening the check out the HDR-AS15 and have to say that it’s a slick little camera that should give GoPro and Contour some serious competition. [click to continue…]
