Nikon unveiled the Nikon 1 J4 mirrorless camera a couple weeks ago in the middle of all the NAB 2014 news; however, it appears that the camera will not be available in the US.
The J4, like the Nikon 1 J3, still offers several powerful features though for such a compact camera. Of course, it retains the 1″ class sensor for a 2.7x crop factor (also known as Nikon’s CX format). The sensor is an 18MP CMOS with a Hybrid AF that sports 105 phase detect AF points on the sensor. As I read Nikon’s announcement of the new Nikon 1 V3 last night, I glanced over the pricing info and caught $999.95 in there. I was digging through the specs and figured that was a body-only price of the V3 since the kit was $1200. But that assumption was wrong.
The Nikon 1 V3 is a new mirrorless camera that features an 18.4MP CX format sensor (1-inch class) and captures still images at an impressive 20 fps. The V3 also captures 1080/60p video and 720p video at 120fps for that ultra smooth 5x slow motion video (when conformed to a 24p frame rate). [Read more...]
