Sony is dropping a massive load of new gear next week. According to massive leakage at Photo Rumors, the full frame Sony A99 and NEX-6 will be officially unveiled on September 12. But that’s not all…

Carl Zeiss has announced a new cine zoom lens, the CZ.2 28-80mm T2.9, which will be available in 5 different mounts (PL, EF, F, MFT and E). It features a full frame 36 x 24mm image circle for compatibility with HDSLRs like the 5D Mark III and cine cameras like the Canon C300 and Sony NEX-FS700. This new lens will mate nicely with the Zeiss 70-200mm T2.9 that was announced earlier this year.
The Zeiss CZ.2 28-80mm T2.9 will be available in the second quarter of 2013 at a retail price of $19,900.

Samyang Optics has launched three new cinema lenses for Nikon and Canon mount HDSLRs.
- 14mm T3.1 ED AS UMC
- 24mm T1.5 ED AS UMC
- 35mm T1.5 ED AS UMC
These new cine lenses accompany the existing Samyang 8mm T3.8 Fisheye cine lens and feature “follow-focus gearing on focus and decoupled aperture. Such alterations allow the user to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture / depth of field whist filming. Another feature is the visibility of the aperture and focus scale on the side of the lens.”
The new lenses should be available in August/September 2012.
SMAPP put together the above video that highlights 5 Canon lenses that are great for shooting video on Canon HDSLRs. While I haven’t used all of these, I found their insight to be particularly compelling for uses of the 14mm and 135mm. And, while I use the 24-105mm regularly, I hadn’t considered the 135mm + 1.4x extender as an alternative to the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens in my kit.
