Nikon has several new lens rebates with up to $200 instant savings available. The instant rebates include several popular lenses like the 70-200mm f/2.8, 14-24mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.4 lenses. Check all out of the deals here at B&H Photo.
Tamron recently announced the very attractive SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 lens. It is available in Canon and Nikon mounts and comes in substantially cheaper (at just $1,199) than the first-party options from both manufacturers.
The $1,199 price point would be attractive for a plain 24-70mm f/2.8 iteration; however, the inclusion of Tamron’s Vibration Compensation makes this lens especially enticing. It has a 9-blade diaphragm and Tamron claims a somewhat suspect 5-stops of camera shake reduction. While I have no doubt Tamron’s lens stabilization will perform well (and it is very welcomed on this lens), 5-stops of shake reduction would be an impressive feat.
Nonetheless, the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 lens ships in August for the Nikon mount. Canon shooters will have to wait until September to get theirs. You can pre-order it now here at B&H Photo.
Tamron has officially announced its new 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD lens for Canon and Nikon mounts. The lens is built for APS-C models and features a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 28.8-640mm, which is quite incredible for an all-in-one DSLR lens. Kudos to Tamron for bringing such a lens to market. The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens retails for $1599, while the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art lens retails for $1299. Both lenses begin shipping this month, although Nikon shooters will have to wait until July for the 24-70mm lens in their mount.
The savings are noteworthy over first-party brands. For instance, the Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens retails for $2099 with a one and third stop handicap to the Sigma lens. Likewise, the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens retails for $1899 and doesn’t offer image stabilization like the Sigma lens.
You can find the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM lens here at B&H Photo.

The upcoming Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD lens has leaked out ahead of its official launch. I’m a big fan of the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens, which I tested out in my Nikon D7200 Review. But somehow, Tamron has managed to shave a couple millimeters off the wide end and add 100mm onto the long end of this true superzoom DSLR lens! [Read more…]

Priced at $2199 and $1699, respectively, these new wide zooms are pro lenses that mirror what Canon and Nikon have done in their lens lines. As Sony continues to grow its market share with its E-mount line of mirrorless cameras, expect this trend to continue. [Read more…]
