Professional portrait photographers tend to gravitate toward the high-end portrait lenses, such as the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 or the Nikon 85mm f/1.4G. Tamron has announced the SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro lens for the Sony A-Mount. It offers a max 1:1 magnification, Tamron’s USD AF motor and full-time manual focus.
We knew the lens would be coming when Tamron announced the Canon and Nikon versions earlier this year. The new Sony version differs from the Canon and Nikon models only by the absence of built-in Vibration Compensation due to sensor-based image stabilization in Sony A-mount bodies. The Sony version carries the same $649 price tag though.
The new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro should ship next week and is available for pre-order here at B&H Photo.
Nikon has announced the new AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED lens for $2199. The lens is FX mount with internal focusing with manual override and a rounded 9-blade diaphragm.
As you would expect from a lens of this caliber, it has three extra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat to minimize flare. It has a minimum focus distance of 3.3′. This should be a killer portrait lens for full frame Nikon cameras.
The Nikon AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED lens should be available in August. You can pre-order it now here at B&H Photo.
