The Panasonic Lumix GX1 is a new Micro Four Thirds camera that steps up from the GF-series. The GX1 features a 16MP image sensor, 1080/60i AVCHD video capture and a 3-inch touchscreen display. The GX1 offers a sensitivity range of ISO 160-12800 and is compatible with the new LVF2 electronic viewfinder (a 1.44-million dot resolution viewfinder).
The Panasonic Lumix GX1 should be available in December at an initial retail price from $699 for body only, $799 with a standard kit lens, or $949 with an X-series kit lens. Check availability on Amazon.com.

While August was a busy month for camera announcements, it’s looking more and more like September is going to give it a run for its money. It looks like Nikon’s compact mirrorless camera has leaked its lens mount and sensor mount onto the web. Based on this image, it’s clearly not an F-mount camera – so you won’t be using existing Nikon lenses on this camera (without an adapter, that is). The above image is purported to be the new Sony NEX-7. While it appears to be a fake based on the credibility of the source and evidence of image alteration, Sony could have a real gem on its hands if it did something along these lines in the upcoming prosumer NEX model – as a step-up from the NEX-5.
