Benro has introduced its new S6 Video Monopod, which¬†provides a 13.2 lb payload capacity as well as a 4-step counterbalance for working with heavier cameras and longer lenses. The S6 head includes an independent pan lock, which allows the user to pan smoothly without having to turn the entire monopod. Equipped with a 65mm flat base with a 3/8″ thread, the S6 video head can be removed from the monopod allowing users to mount the head separately on sliders, jibs or half ball adapters. New rumors of the Canon 7D Mark II suggest that an announcement should/could arrive in the second quarter of 2014. Additionally, the 7D Mark II is rumored to be more video oriented than typically seen in Canon HDSLRs and that the camera would retail well above the Canon 70D.

Canon 70D Video AF Sample and Thoughts

The more I use the Canon 70D to shoot video with full-time AF, the more impressed I am with what Canon has done with its Dual Pixel AF technology. I recently took the 70D in to my CrossFit box for an evening to capture some photos and decided to try some video with it as well.

I basically treated the 70D more like a camcorder instead of how I would normally handle a HDSLR. As it turns out, the 70D does quite well and holds focus about like you would expect a camcorder to. I used the 70D paired with the 18-135mm STM kit lens (the STM focus is for real). Shot with manual exposure and full-time AF.
