Manfrotto and Elinchrom Cut Ties for Reasons Unclear

Manfrotto will no longer distribute Switzerland-based Elinchrom lighting equipment in the US, effective May 5, 2015.

In a statement issued today, Manfrotto cited the continued evolution of the US photography and lighting market as the reason for the break and that the companies are “updating their respective strategies in the marketplace.”

Elinchrom BX 500Ri Review

The Elinchrom BX 500Ri is a powerful AC monolight geared for studio use.  I think I first heard about the BXRi series from Scott Kelby at Photoshop World, and I’ve heard him rave about these lights from time to time on his blog and elsewhere.  So if the big guy likes’em, they’ve got to be good, right?  Well, after spending some time with a pair of these big dogs, I have to agree wholeheartedly with Scott – they are pretty darn slick. Elinchrom Ranger Quadra

At PhotoPlus last week, Elinchrom introduced the Ranger Quadra, which is a portable battery flash system offering built-in Skyport triggering, Eye-Cell (prevents triggering during pre-flash allowing the system to work in conjunction with a TTL-system like Nikon’s CLS) and several othere unique features.
