A recent patent publication shows Canon has been looking into adding image stabilization to a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Given the recent announcement of the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens (which still isn’t available), however, this doesn’t bode well for an IS version anytime soon.
Of course, there’s a Tamron lens that fills this void though…

B&H has the new Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake lens in stock and now shipping. Given the size and the $199 price, I expect this to be a very popular little lens.
B&H has opened up pre-orders on the new Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM and EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM lenses. B&H says expected availability on both lenses is June 17.
There are new Canon double instant rebates available that include the Canon 5D Mark III as part of the rebate package deals.
B&H has a dedicated page for the applicable cameras and lenses. The rebates are set to expire June 2, 2012.
B&H has the Blackmagic Cinema Camera available for pre-order now. This camera was the big surprise of NAB 2012 and stole quite a bit of attention from the several mainstream camera makers. Everywhere I went, people were asking “Have you seen Blackmagic’s camera?”
The initial excitement over this camera reminds me of the 5D Mark II release back in 2008. The $3k price for a camera that shoots RAW video on an SSD drive, and uses Canon EF mount lenses is quite remarkable.
You can get your pre-order in here at B&H.
Canon 30-105mm Cine Zoom
Along with the Canon EOS 1D C and EOS C500, Canon also unveiled a pair of new Cinema Zoom lenses today – each in PL and EF mounts. The CN-E15.5-47mm T2.8 L S/SP and CN-E30-105mm T2.8 L S/SP lenses are designed to cover Super 35 frames and deliver top notch performance at 4K resolution.
Canon 15-47mm Cine Zoom
No word yet on price or release dates; however, given the $45K+ price tag of the last Canon cinema zoom lenses announced, I wouldn’t expect these to be much less.
