The Nikon D850 is landing in customers hands as retailers continue to ship them as fast as they arrive. B&H is in the process of shipping limited quantities as more shipments arrive. Amazon continues to try to keep up as is staying about a week behind on orders with the current availability date of March 17. Additionally, Adorama continues to list the D850 on backorder.

Last month, DxOMark reported that the Nikon D850 unseated the Sony A7R II with the best score for a full frame camera in its sensor evaluations. The Sony A7R II scored a 98, while the Nikon D850 scored a 100. Now that DxOMark has put the Sony A7R III through its paces, Sony is back on top – right next to the D850.
The Sony A7R III scored a 100 on the DxOMark sensor evaluation. While the Nikon D850 edged the Sony A7R III out in the color and dynamic range categories, the A7R III bested the D850 in the low light category.

The Nikon D850 has a high resolution 45.7MP full frame sensor. This makes it challenging on lenses to match the capability of the sensor.
