Ricoh CX5 Announced
The Ricoh CX5 is a new point and shoot camera with a 10.7x optical zoom lens (28-300mm equivalent) and a 10MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor. The CX5 sports a new hybrid AF system that Ricoh says reduces AF focusing times down to 0.2 seconds. The hybrid AF system is made up of “a passive AF sensor that continuously measures the distance between the camera and subject using an area sensor together with Contrast AF (a system in which the imaging elements search for the peak location for contrast on the subject and focus on that location).”
The CX5 also offers a continuous shooting speed of 5fps at full resolution, a sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200, 720p HD video capture and a 3-inch LCD at 920k dot resolution. No word yet on pricing or release date. Check availability on Amazon.com.

Olympus TG-610 and TG-310
Olympus announced the waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof TG-610 and TG-310 at CES 2011 last week. Both cameras feature a 14MP sensor and the ability to capture 720p HD video. The TG-310 offers a 3.6x optical zoom lens, while the TG-610 steps up to a 5x optical zoom.
The TG-610 also offers a high resolution 3-inch LCD at 920k-dot res, while the TG-310 has a 230k-dot res 2.7-inch LCD. Both models are compatible with SDXC memory cards.
Both cameras are waterproof down to 16 feet, shockproof at up to 5 feet drops and freezeproof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.
The TG-610 should be available in February at an initial retail price of $299.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.

Olympus SP-610UZ
The Olympus SP-610UZ is the successor to the SP-600UZ. The SP-610UZ offers a 22x zoom lens (28-616mm equivalent), which is up from 15x zoom on the SP-600UZ, and image stabilization built-in. Other upgrades include a 14MP sensor (up from 12MP) and a 3-inch LCD (up from 2.7-inch).
The SP-610UZ captures 720p video and is compatible with SDXC memory cards. The SP-610UZ should be available in February at an initial retail price of $229.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.

Samsung ST700, PL170 and PL120
The Samsung ST700, PL170 and PL120 are new dual screen point and shoot cameras introduced at CES 2011. The ST700 features a 1.8-inch front panel LCD, while the PL170 and PL120 offer 1.5-inch front panel LCDs.
The ST700 features a 16.1MP sensor, 5x optical zoom with optical image stabilization, and a 3-inch touch screen display. The ST700 should be available in March 2011 at an initial retail price of $279.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.
The Samsung PL170 also packs a 16.1MP sensor and 5x optical zoom with optical image stabilization, but its 3-inch LCD is not a touch screen interface. The PL170 should be available in March 2011 at an initial retail price of $199.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.
