One of the things I wanted to do during my review of the Sony A7 and A7R was to put the video features through their paces. With the help of my uncharacteristically cooperative kids, I shot the above short, Nerfed, in a few hours using only the Sony A7 and A7R (along with a couple of shots with the GoPro Hero3 that were necessary for the plot). With the warm reception we’ve seen from the Sony A7 and A7R, expect the third-party lens lineup to continue to grow for the Sony E-mount. Also, while these lenses were clearly released in response to the A7 and A7R, they are also compatible with the Sony APS-C E-mount cameras.
I remain very impressed with the Sony A7 and A7R full frame mirrorless cameras. Now that DxO Mark results are out, it looks there’s good reason to buy into the hype of these new cameras. The 36MP A7R scored virtually identical in image quality to the Nikon D800 and D800E (both are also 36MP). [Read more…]
The new Sony A7 and A7R cameras had people fumbling over each other to get to the cameras at PhotoPlus 2013. As a refresher, the Sony A7 and A7R are Sony’s first full frame mirrorless cameras featuring 24.3MP and 36.4MP sensors, respectively.
