B&H has the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake lens for $149 (reg. $199) now through June 29, 2013. I love this little lens and think it’s a great addition to any Canon DSLR; however, it’s particularly pleasant on APS-C cameras with its 64mm equivalent field of view. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Canon issued a product advisory for the new EF 40mm f/2.8 STM lens. The AF may stop working when enough pressure is applied to the lens barrel while attached to a camera.
The current fix is to remove the lens and reattach it. A firmware update should be available soon to fix the problem altogether.
I haven’t experienced this problem yet.

B&H has the new Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake lens in stock and now shipping. Given the size and the $199 price, I expect this to be a very popular little lens.
It looks like images of the Canon Rebel T4i and new 40mm f/2.8 lens have leaked a day ahead of schedule.
Again, the Canon Rebel T4i is expected to feature an 18MP CMOS sensor, along with 9 cross-type AF points, full-time AF during video capture and a touchscreen LCD.
The new 40mm f/2.8 pancake is believed to be an EF-mount lens (i.e., will work on full-frame cameras), which seems to be confirmed via the above image that shows the red lens mount alignment dot. The 52mm filter thread shows us just how compact this lens will be. [click to continue…]
