Pentax has issued a firmware update for the K20D. According to DP Review, the firmware “addresses the problem characterized on the DPReview forums in which ‘hot’ pixels could appear when the 2-second self times was used.” The official party line is that new firmware “[m]inimize[s] the noise when taking picture with 2 seconds self-timer mode.” It is available here for download.
Nikon D90 to be Announced June 16th?
Rumor has it, that is Nikon Rumors has it, the Nikon D90 may be announced by Nikon D90. Nikon Rumors has published the above photo, which looks like a “press” image and bears too many differences from current models to be a Photoshopped job. (I will say, however, that the “9” on the badge looks a little jacked up.)
June 16th is significant because of Thom Hogan’s prior predictions for the release of a D90 and D3x from Nikon:
I’m tightening my D90 (or whatever they decide to call it) prediction date to between May 12th and June 16th.
If you’re interested in seeing a dissection of the above Nikon D90 image compared to other current Nikon DSLRs, check out Nikon Rumors for more.
Finally, for the latest news and rumors on the Nikon D90, stay tuned to Photography Bay’s Nikon D90 page.
UPDATE: Sorry for the false alarm folks, but after further inspection, this is clearly a PS job based on the below image of the Nikon D300. Look closely and you’ll find the similarities as well. Pretty good PS job though, it had me pondering for a bit.
Canon 5D Mark II Ad Surfaces
A Canon 5D Mark II ad has surfaced in the DP Review forums. In the Japanese ad, you can see that AF assist beam is in a different location of the current camera and you also see a “Mark II” emblem in the bottom right corner of the camera. Fake? Probabaly. Still, it’s more fuel to the rumor fire for the Canon 5D Mark II. For the latest word on the Canon 5D Mark II, stay tuned to Photography Bay’s Canon 5D Mark II page.

DP Review has now published a preview and some sample images from the new Canon Rebel XS/1000D.
The EOS 1000D is remarkably similar in appearance to its marginally larger relative – the 450D. The basic shape is pretty much identical, although you will be able to spot some minor differences if you look closely enough.

Pentax Optio S12 Review at Trusted Reviews
Trusted Reviews has posted a review of the Pentax Optio S12.
Like its predecessors the Optio S12 is a very well made and easy to use camera, with a nice simple design that continues to look good even five years after its initial launch. Although it lacks image stabilisation, it makes up for it with numerous other fun and useful features.
Sony A350 Review at Photoclub Alpha
Photoclub Alpha has posted a “creative” review of the 14.2 megapixel Sony A350.
Sony uses that slogan – ‘like.no.other’. Dead right. You can not call the Alpha 350 ‘recommended’ or ‘best buy’ or anything else like that. It is unique at the price, it offers performance features entirely out of line with the expected aims of a new DSLR at £399, and it can do half a dozen things which no competitor can match.

Olympus SP-570UZ Review at PC Mag
PC Mag has posted a review of the 20x zoom Olympus SP-570 UZ.
Image quality, while not stellar, will likely please most shooters and is easily bolstered by flexibility and a wealth of innovative features. In fact, the SP-570UZ is one of the best all-purpose cameras we’ve seen.
Lili Estefan Showing Off the Casio EXILIM EX-S10
Digital Camera Innovator Touts Slimmest Model with Lili “La Flaca” Estefan
New York, NY (June 12, 2008)—Lili Estefan, the beloved co-host of “El Gordo y La Flaca” (“The Fat Man and The Thin Woman”), is lending her slim frame to promote the launch of Casio’s EXILIM EX-S10 digital camera into the U.S. Hispanic market. The daily gossip program, “El Gordo y la Flaca” stars Ms. Estefan and Raúl de Molina and is Univision’s top-rated celebrity gossip show, marking its tenth anniversary this year. The Hispanic ad agency REVOLUCION saw a natural link between the two: the EX-S10 is the world’s smallest and thinnest 10.1 megapixel camera* and Lili Estefan is the Hispanic world’s favorite “Flaca”.
“I am so excited to be part of Casio’s first effort to reach out to the Latin community,” Estefan says. “I love to share my vacation photos on ‘El Gordo y La Flaca’, and this gives me an even better way to do it!” [Read more…]

Canon EOS 3D & 6D Rumors Continue
Word is on the street that Canon is about to drop a couple of big cameras as a replacement to the heralded EOS 5D. While we surely expect some kind of new-fangled DSLR to replace the Canon 5D at Photokina 2008, Canon is mum on confirming any of these rumors. The working names that the rumors fly under are Canon EOS 3D and EOS 6D. The rumored specs are as follows:
Canon EOS 3D (unknown model name)
[I would actually think these specs fit a 5D Mark II or 6D. -Ed.]
Resolution: 14mp Full Frame
FPS: 5fps
LCD:3″
AF: 9 point
ISO: 100-3200
Memory Card: CF & SD
Proc: DIGIC III
Sealing: Some (40D)
Feature: Live View w/AF
Price: $1999 USD
Canon EOS 6D(unknown model name)
[Likewise, I think these specs are more closely aligned with a “3D” model. -Ed.]
Resolution: 20mp Full Frame (Sounds unbelievable, but true)
FPS: 5fps
LCD: 3″ VGA
AF: 19 point
ISO: 50-6400
Memory Card: CF & SD
Proc: DIGIC III
Sealing: Yes, Full.
Feature: Live View w/AF
Price: $2999 USD
Remember folks, these are still rumors no matter how reliable others claim them to be. Expect something from Canon at Photokina for sure, but don’t sell off that 5D until you can replace it with a real camera. For now, you can keep up with the rumors on the Canon 5D Mark II Rumors page or the Canon 3D Rumors page.
