For Canon users, you might as well just pick up a white box, refurbished, or used Canon 24-105mm f/4. It's a solid lens for the price and should come in cheaper than the Sigma. Since the Canon 24-105 is a kit lens with the 5D3 and 6D, there are tons of them out there. Nikon packages the 24-85mm lens with their cameras which is not as good of a lens so the Sigma may be a better fit if you want something better quality than the Nikon 24-85. Of course the Sigma will also be more than that Nikon lens. Also, the Sigma is much cheaper than the Nikon 24-120mm.
I think THIS Sigma lens will be more difficult to purchase than other Sigma lenses just because the Canon & Nikon prices are low in this segment since they are kit lenses. If Sigma ever puts out a 24-70 f/2.8 or better, I'll be all over it.
