ioSafe Extreme Rugged Hard Drive Review

ioSafe Extreme

The ioSafe Extreme is a portable, bus-powered hard drive that is built like a tank.  It is available in 500GB or 1TB capacities with a 5400RPM spinning drive, or with a SSD drive from 120GB-600GB capacities.  The latest models are USB 3.0 only; however, the model that I reviewed was a FW800 with a 5400RPM 1TB drive inside.

The enclosure is a solid aluminum enclosure that matches up nicely with current generation Mac products.  Moreover, the aluminum enclosure is crush resistant up to 2500 lbs, while the available titanium enclosure is crush proof up to 5000 lbs.  Essentially, you can run over these things with a car and it will still function properly. Adobe Creative Cloud 40% Discount Ends This Month

Adobe Creative Cloud

Since the Adobe Creative Cloud launch back in May, those who owned Adobe CS3 or later apps have been able to subscribe to Creative Cloud for only $29.99 per month (instead of the standard $49 per month rate).  This deal ends on August 31, 2012.

So if you’ve been on the fence about moving to Creative Cloud (and getting access to all of the Adobe CS6 apps – e.g., Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.), now is the time to lock in your discounted rate for a whole year.  More info here on Adobe’s website.

On a personal note, I signed up for Creative Cloud on day one at the discounted rate and have no complaints about the service.  I love having access to all the Adobe CS6 apps without the big upgrade fee all at once.
