Canon Spring Rebates 2008

Canon has announced its new rebate plan for EOS bodies, lenses and accessories, which goes into effect today, May 18, 2008.  The rebates will run until July 19, 2008.  Below is a rundown of the Canon gear to which the rebates apply.

These rebates are instant – no pesky forms to fill out or UPC codes to clip from boxes.  This means that the price shows up instantly in your cart on Amazon, B&H Photo or Adorama, when you purchase them during the rebate period.

Canon DSLR Rebates – One Week Left

Remember the Canon DSLR rebates I told you about back in February? You’ve only got a week left to take advantage of them. They expire April 19.

Purchase a new Canon PIXMA MP970, Pro9000, or Pro9500 Photo Printer and a Canon EOS 1D Mark III, EOS 1Ds Mark III, EOS 40D, or EOS 5D from Amazon.com, Adorama or B&H Photo between February 3, 2008 and April 19, 2008. The rebate is $200.

Additionally, the Canon PIXMA MP970 is available for $240 $275 at Amazon with a $100 rebate = grand total of $140 $175. Industrious purchasers might decide to sell them for about $200 and recapture the purchase price, along with the $200 rebate for their new Canon DSLR body and come out way ahead. . . . I’m just sayin’.

Sony A350 In Stock and Shipping

It looks like Amazon has updated the Sony A350 to “In Stock” and ready to ship.  However, this only applies to the standard A350 kit with the 18-70mm lens.  The body only and the 2 lens kit still show a release date of April 25.

For more info on the Sony A350, visit Photography Bay’s Sony A350 Reviews & Resources page.  Also, be sure to check back soon.  I’ll get started on a review as soon as my A350 arrives.

Nikon D60 Now Shipping from Amazon.com

Amazon.com has the Nikon D60 in stock and ready to ship.  It’s available in a kit setup with the new 18-55mm VR lens for just under $750.  You can also get the D60 in body-only for $630.  Finally, it’s available in a two-lens kit with the 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR lenses for under a grand.

Get the latest news and reviews for this new DSLR on Photography Bay’s Nikon D60 page.  I’ll share my personal thoughts on the D60 after mine arrives next week!

Canon 5D Steal

The Canon 5D is back down to $2099 at Amazon.  That’s a solid price in and of itself.

However, if you take into account the $200 rebate and get the Canon PIXMA MP970 printer for $240 with a $100 rebate, then you’re saving some serious change.

If you were to sell the printer for more than you paid after the rebate, which I just checked ebay and it looks like completed listings have been going for $150-200 on average, then you would effectively be paying under $1800 for a new Canon 5D.  Need I say more?
