Casio EXILIM Pro EX-FH20 Review at PhotographyBLOG

PhotographyBLOG has posted a review of the Casio EXILIM Pro EX-FH20.

Photographically speaking, there’s nothing that exceptional about the Casio. However if you’re a YouTube junkie and as keen on video as you are shooting stills, and being able to capture slow motion footage as well as widescreen vistas floats your boat, then the Casio EXILIM Pro EX-FH20 is worth further investigation.

Casio Updates EX-FH20 Firmware, Already

After less than a month on the market, the EX-FH20 has a firmware update. Casio has made the update for its speedy new camera available on its website. The update will improve the performance of the EX-FH20’s memory card storage when shooting movies. A CLASS6 equivalent transfer speed memory card is recommended for the camera.

The firmware update is version 1.01, and Casio has posted a special warning for EXILIM owners updating their cameras:

If firmware update installation is interrupted due to low battery power, your camera will no longer be able to operate. Be sure to load a fresh set of new batteries into the camera before starting the firmware update installation procedure. Note that you perform firmware update at your own risk.

The Casio Exilim EX-FH20 essentially delivers a couple of absolutely amazing features, but can only muster mediocre image quality, and comes with a stiff price tag.

Casio EX-Z300’s Make-Up Mode

Casio’s announcement of additions to the Exilim line include the EX-Z300, as well as the EX-Z19, EX-Z85 and EX-Z250. The EX-Z300 is a 10.1 megapixel model with a 3-inch LCD display, along with a special feature: a “Make-Up” mode. This mode works like the cloning tool in Photoshop does: it blurs and smooths blemishes in the camera when you take a picture.

Samsung offers a similar mode on one of their newer compact cameras, called Picture Perfect. It seems likely that this sort of in-camera airbrushing will become popular, at least in consumer cameras. After all, who doesn’t want to look their best?
