Apple Adds Additional RAW Support in Mac OS X 10.6.5
Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.5 update has added system-wide support (including Aperture and iPhoto) for a number of new RAW formats captured by the following cameras:
- Canon EOS 60D
- Canon PowerShot S95
- Hasselblad H4D-40
- Nikon D3100
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
- Sony DSLR-A290
- Sony DSLR-A560
- Sony DSLR-A580
- Sony SLT-A33

The update is available via systems updates in Mac OS X 10.6.
Animoto Plug-in for Apple Aperture
Animoto has released a free plug-in for Apple Aperture users.
Available at no charge, the plug-in lets Aperture users initiate Animoto video projects from directly within Aperture. Now, even when working in Aperture, photographers are only a few clicks away from a stunning Animoto video. –Animoto

Apple Refreshes iMac and Mac Pro Lines
Apple has updated its iMac and Mac Pro line to include the latest Intel processors, adding Core i7 as an iMac option and a dual processor 12-core Mac Pro option.
Additional product releases include a Magic Trackpad for adding MacBook trackpad functionality to desktops, and a new 27″ LED Cinema Display.

AutoStitch 3.0 Steps Up Panoramic Photography on iPhone
iPhone photographers are getting improvements in panoramic efforts with the latest version of the AutoStitch iPhone app. You can use AutoStitch 3.0 to create iPhone panoramic images up to 20MP in size. The app will also adjust for brightness variations across a range of images. AutoStitch 3.0 also allows you to share your images on Facebook or via email from within the app.
AutoStitch 3.0 runs $2.99 and is available through the App Store in the Photography category. The full App Store name is AutoStitch Panorama.
Tiffen Photo fx Ultra for iPad
Tiffen has announced a new iPad app, Photo fx Ultra, which offers 68 filters and over 800 presets for adding effects to your photos.

Lightroom for iPad? Adobe says: It’s Hard to Make It Work
Over on his blog today, John Nack, Principal Product Manager, Adobe Photoshop, briefly spoke about the huge demand for a Lightroom App for the Apple iPad and how hard that it is to make it work right. Adobe’s Terry White had previously given us a wink and a nod that we might see Lightroom soon on the iPad, and Nack’s brief commentary suggests Adobe is hard at work to make it happen. However, citing Camera Bits’ troubles, it looks Abode is running into similar road blocks that other app developers have faced when it comes to making a truly worthwhile app for photographers.
