Fotodiox has officially unveiled the Sharkcage for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The rig consists of a cage that is tightly fit to the shape of the BMPCC and includes a top handle, along with a baseplate (also with an Arca Swiss QR plate) and dual 15mm rods that are 12″ long.
It also has a cable pinch for securing cables that connect to the BMPCC, as well as a short micro-HDMI to HDMI female pigtail cable for more easily connecting HDMI monitors or recorders to the BMPCC.
It’s a very solid design and fits the Pocket Cinema Camera well. I had the chance to check out a pre-release version of it as NAB 2015 and was impressed with what Fotodiox offered for the asking price. The wood handles free great in hand and top handle makes for an easy carry option. There are plenty of mounting points all of the cage for accessories – all the while keeping with a compact package built around the form-factor of the Pocket Cinema camera.
