Manfrotto has launched a new Compact Series Tripod Series featuring three different kits that are lightweight and affordable.

The new line includes:

  • Compact Action Kit – Features a dual-purpose pistol grip head that allows adjustments for both photo and video use with smooth operation for video at the flip of a switch.
  • Compact Light Kit – Designed for mirrorless cameras, it is ultra lightweight and portable. It features a ball head with an integrated mounting screw and no separate tripod plate.

Additionally, Manfrotto unveiled a pair of new Compact Series monopods. The standard Compact Monopod is designed for use with compact and mirrorless cameras, while the Compact Advanced Monopod is designed for use with DSLRs.

If these are sturdy, then the prices aren’t too bad. Personally, I’d go with a Benro branded support if someone is looking for cost savings. I’m still shocked that Manfrotto hasn’t jumped on the monopod/tripod combo unit design yet.

The monopods look decent for the prices if the locks are tight. If the bottom foot was a 3/8″ screw on, that would have been fantastic – they do not look like any of them are from the limited photos.
