Sony has been shaking up the digital imaging market since it came on board in 2006 with the A100. It released a pair of hits last year with its A7 series and totally shook up the mirrorless camera market again.
Now, rumors of a more affordable medium format camera from Sony are rumbling toward a possible announcement in the next six months. If that timing means anything, Photokina 2014 would be a prime opportunity to launch such a camera.
As the rumors churn, the same 50MP 44x33mm sensor as found in the Hasselblad H5D-50c will be present in the new Sony camera. Additionally, the camera is rumored to be a mirrorless camera in a form factor akin the Mamiya 7 medium format camera.
With Sony’s well-known video features throughout its camera line, it’s quite likely that a medium format camera would also feature medium format video capture as well for some bokehlicious cinematography.
If anyone is going to put it all together for an affordable medium format camera, Sony certainly has the momentum to make it happen.

Back in 2007, Canon had a 50MP sensor in APS-H format. In 2010 they had a 120mp sensor. Where the fudge are these products?!!
Why spend all that time and money making them if they never release anything?
