there’s no change in their position so none in mine

I wont’t be buying this. I like to own a product outright not on the drip. I think Adobe will lose business over this.
Alvaro Serpa says
Completely agree with you. Adobe is taking a risk and will loose loyal users with products “in the air”…
Richard says
“not” or do you mean “now”?
Jerry says
I huge waste of money. Big looser for Adobe, they deserve every lost customer!

Phototography is my hobby – I am not a professional and I would ask Adobe to re think this strategy as I am sure many amatures like me will look elsewhere for their software. I have updated my Lightroom and Photoshop for many years now and I feel cheated that although I can but a new version of Photoshop 6 I can no longer use the upgrade path. I will not be signing up for cloud based products – if ever I loose my internet connection then I would loose my software – just not an option for me. Sorry Adobe.
Peter McAuley says
Just for the record all the software exists on your computer. You do not need to be on the Internet to use it. It only needs to be online once every 30 days to check in.
Alvaro Serpa says
I´m for more than 20 years a photo and video professional. In my studio there are several workstations for video and photo edition. For security reasons of viruses, net trash and all issues we know, ONLY ONE of those Pc’s has a Net connection (for usual and practical daily reasons). All the others with serious work do it with software classic instalation. We have been loyal users of several Adobe products since “old” Photoshop 5.5. With new “Adobe Cloud” (?) how do we manage this situation in real practice?
Alvaro Serpa says
1. Since many years, we have always bought original software in real disks. Now, we need and ONLY WORK with Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects. Nothing else matters.
How much does this costs?…

They’re just screwing themselves! They’ll figure it out.
Kdmorris says
I may switch to Capture One Pro.Their software includes all of the bells and whistles that Adobe is nickel and diming us for.
The plug ins and features – all ready present, plus more. Harder learning curve, but it may be a worthy investment and cost less than cs6
Jerry says
As a user of Adobe Photoshop it would be very difficult to effectively move to another editing program and adding another monthly fee is not something most photographers want or need. The simple solution is to upgrade now to CS6 and stay with it. Most or all of the “upgrades” are not useful for most editing situations so not having the newest upgrade is not a big deal. Adobe has said that they will continue to handle fixes to all CS6 problems you will simply not get upgrades. I’m sure Adobe can get along with the loss of customers who have supported them since the beginning, they’re a large company and no doubt fell they can screw the little guy without any problems!
AST says
I think Adobe “heads with brains” will not make the mistake of ignoring those “little guys”… All over the world, “little guys” who always have bought original software are millions!
Along centuries, History shows clearly (not only but also in business) the results of forgetting “little guys”…Time will show if this is not a shot, not in the feet, but in both feet…
Ed Mease says
Still hoping that Adobe will see the light and back off of the CC only option and give us an option to purchase software as a perpetual license again. One reason Adobe gave the art and photography communities for going with a CC only option is to thwart software pirating. Adobe CC products have only officially been on the market for a few days and there is already hacked and pirated software out there. So I guess the reason on that part of their argument has failed and it only took the hackers a few days to beat the software. Short term I’m the loser because I now have to find another software product to work in my workflow. Long-term Adobe is the loser because people like me will leave and find other solutions.
Christopher says
This why photoshop cc has been cracked! Just proves if Adobe lowers the cost they won’t need to try to stop hacking!
James says
I think many of you are looking at this all wrong. I’m a little guy who’s never really been able to afford Adobe because of the high ticket price, but now with the low monthly rate that their offering, a door has been opened to me. I’m lucky enough to get a discounted rate as a teacher, but even at 50 bucks a month, it’s approachable. Just think how much money most people spend on a monthly phone bill? Or cable bill?
Duke says
James, looking at it from your viewpoint i can see how it might look attractive, however you could have borrowed, or taken a loan for $600 to buy CS6 and then paid it back at $50 a month. After 12 months you would own it outright and your payments would stop. With CC your payments will never stop.
Russell Smith says
I didn’t see this coming, bad about staying “up” on things, was FINALLY going to upgrade to CS6 today (from CS4) and see that is no longer available. CC is a great idea…..for Adobe, but NOT for us. Can’t, or won’t, pay 10-20.00 bucks a month forever just doesn’t make good sense. Guess I am stuck with CS4 for the duration….thanks Adobe.
