The latest rumors suggest that Canon has a new camera announcement coming on April 23, 2013. While no specific details have leaked out at this point, the Canon 70D seems to be a very likely candidate.
The 70D has been rumored to be coming for several months now. The timing is also right to replace the 2.5 year old Canon 60D.
Previous rumors indicated that the 70D would feature the same 18MP CMOS sensor as is found in the Canon Rebel T5i, as well as a more robust build similar to the Canon 50D from a couple generations back.

Maybe its just me. I no longer care at all. The 70D will come when it comes. With yet another revamp of the Canon’s 18mp sensor (im certain it will have some new overlay but it will be the same basic sensor). I’m really not even curious if it comes with the new digic 6 processor or what the new processing power will do…

I think it kinda has to be a new sensor because the same aps-c sensor on the camera would be a giant fail. That would also mean canon is no longer being competitive with Nikon, as nikon has actually stepped up their game. The 70d should be an equivalent to the new Nikon 7200 so if the 70d didn’t compete with it, canon would loose many customers that would be fed up with the same specs under a new name. Personally I cant wait, but then again if they disappoint me I will look elsewhere. I’m seriously considering a Pentax by this point so this camera better be good or I’m gone. Sony can die as well as everyone else, though Nikon has good products, they are rather expensive, and Pentax is like the best of both little worlds…I hope it has the digic 6, but i wouldn’t mind the d5. Anyway I’m just really excited.

I HOPE ur right but I honestly feel like it wishful thinking. I think it will be a “better” camera than the 60D but I still think Canon will place it under the 7100. Maybe not as far below that model like the 60D was below the 7000 but still. Again, I hope your right & I’m glad your excited but its been going on too long for me. I would have already bought a 7100 if it wasn’t for all the QC issues (& not just with their sensors) nikon has been having lately . As it is, I’m waiting for the pro reviews. And for enough people to have & use the 7100 that hopefully any QC issues will come out.

I stopped by the Canon booth during NAB. Rather disappointed in the way I was responded to while asking about the release of the 70d. The guy was a JERK!!!! the way he responded. In that he mentioned there is NO 70d, never was, never will be! He offered no other alternatives and stopped our conversation there. I was so irritated I just left. Canon themselves have acknowledged the 70d, so we know it is on its way….sometime!? I REALLY want a mid to high end camera with an articulating screen (for many reasons). But really turned off by this guys very unprofessional manner and rudeness.

Ian, you have to almost laugh. If you think about the cost that companies incur having a big booth at the major shows along with the fact that you would only be there ( purchase tickets, maybe hotel room for a couple nights, meals, travel costs, etc) if you are serious about photography-and a professional “marketing rep” just blows you off. LOL. I think that shows, as much as anything else, the arrogance of Canon. I run into the same thing on the phone with them sometimes. They clearly think there is a mysitque about their company and that we are all very fortunate to have them around… My advice would be to send a well written email to their corporate office and fu with one in the mail address to an officer in their Japan corperate offices. They seriously hate bad customer relations in their home office. Regardless though, hope you had fun at the rest of the show. Take care, sk
PS: I have to admit I no longer find the shows interesting (although I still love going to the booths of the little guys/3rd party vendors) and hardly ever go. I typically just spend the money involved in attending these things elsewhere…

60D will still give best value for your money. at 700$ I don’t think the extra 500$ worth WIFI/Magnesium Body/25000 ISO.
