A new spec list for the rumored 7D Mark II surfaced over at Canon Rumors. The tipster said that the 7D Mark II announcement would come near the end of February 2013 and pack an APS-C 24.2 MP sensor.
Canon 7D Mark II Rumored Specs
- 24.2mp APS-C Sensor
- 10.2 fps
- Dual DIGIC V
- Dual Card Slot (No mention of card types)
- New Ergonomic Design
- New Battery
The bump to 24.2MP seems reasonable, considering the current Canon 7D weighs in at 18MP and that both Nikon and Sony are moving toward the mid-20MP range with their APS-C lineup of cameras. Not that the resolution is needed, but Sony’s 24MP sensors are solid and are pushing both Sony and Nikon forward with some very solid cameras.
The most exciting spec in this short list has to be the 10.2 fps frame rate. That would solidify the 7D Mark II’s position as a top-notch sports camera if the rest of the camera measures up in producing pro-grade image quality. For now though, this is all still rumors and conjecture, but it gives us something to chew on.
Stay tuned for more rumors that are sure to follow.

Sounds awesome. If its dual card, I hope they stay with CF.

Nice specs but if they change the card and battery type it’ll piss of a lot of current 7D owners. More so if they are looking at a second body. Having to carry multiple battery types is dam pain. Card type no so much as they are cheap and light weight.

Another new battery…sorry Canon , I’ll will keep my 60d and my 50D and my old 5DMKII.
When others + technics come from concurrent i’ll check for a change. I’m tired to spend money
for additionnel new Canon battery when new models comes and constatate that finaly i haven’t real superior ameliorations. Your marketing is poor compare to Nikon and Sony for the body, the lens and all other équipments. Money is hard to win and Canon should low all is equipement pricing. Bye Bye Canon $$$$
