Manfrotto has introduced a couple of new 502HD tripod heads, the MVH502A and the MVH502AH.

The MVH502A is equipped with a 75 mm ball base, while the MVH502AH comes with a flat base with 3/8″ thread. Both are designed for video use and can support up to 13.2 lbs.  They feature Manfrotto’s bridge architechture, as well as a variable Fluid Drag System with adjustable cartridges.

The 502A retails for $225, while the 502AH retails for $200.  Both are available at B&H Photo and Amazon.com.

Did I read the B&H web page correctly? I hope I didn’t read it correcly. Is Manfrotto really selling the handle separately from the head? Why would they do that?

It should come with one pan arm; however, it has dual mounts so you can put the arm on either side or attach dual arms (which would require the purchase of a second arm). I believe B&H has that listed as an accessory (unless you see something that I’m missing).

Hi Craig
I purchased the 502 yesterday from the B&H super store in NYC and it came with the handle. I previously had the 701 and so far I can say it’s dedfinately a better design.. :)

OK, thanks for correcting me. It seemed I had to be wrong.
