Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye Lens Availability Update

in Canon

Last week, I passed along a reader’s tip that a limited number of Canon 8-15mm f/4L lenses would be making their way into the US this week.  It looks like that is now coming to pass since B&H is taking pre-orders for the 8-15mm Fisheye lens.

As you may be aware, when B&H opens items up for pre-order, it generally means that they will be shipping within a few days.  Based on the numbers I was given by the tipster, I wouldn’t expect these to last long.

I think this lens will arrive soon as I found sample pictures already here;

Have it in hand, nicely weight balance on 7D, focusing time and response is up to usual L lens standard. Hope can have the chance to shoot more in the coming weeks !

I wonder if Canon will someday introduce a more affordable non-L lens version of this EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM zoom in EF-S form. Granted this lens was probably targeted at for full frame dSLR owners but I wish crop frame users will get to enjoy the same effect and perspective from a fisheye lens only a 5D or a 1Ds user has privileges to.

Just my $0.02
