The Pentax Optio RS1500 is a 14MP point and shoot camera that features customizable front covers for changing the camera’s appearance. The RS1500 also features a 3-inch LCD and a 4x optical zoom. Lexar’s Professional 133x SDXC cards are now shipping in the jumbo sizes of 64GB and 128GB. These new SDXC cards carry retail prices of $199 and $329, respectively. (Although, the street prices are substantially less. See below.)

The Ikan Elements Starter Fly Kit is a compact and affordable (around $100) HDSLR rig. While this kit is basic, it is surprisingly effective and will deliver enough performance for many HDSLR users who want to get some more stability out of their handheld work.
I love stuff that works and is cheap. While stuff that works is a necessity and stuff that’s cheap is nice, put the two together and you get a real winner in my book. [click to continue…]

Bokeh 2 is a plug-in from Alien Skin that allows you to create all kinds of focus effects and vignettes. As with other plug-ins from Alien Skin, Bokeh 2 is now updated to deliver full 64-bit support with Photoshop CS5 (it also works with Lightroom 3). And, it is quite peppy even with my aging Windows Vista machine.
Software products often tend to get pushed back in the review cycle in favor of camera reviews here on Photography Bay, which is a bit of a shame for the cool stuff like Bokeh 2. When I got around to actually putting Bokeh 2 to use, I was really amazed at the power that it gives you to take your images so far beyond what is practical when using Photoshop or Lightroom alone.
