Olympus SP-610UZ

The Olympus SP-610UZ is the successor to the SP-600UZ.  The SP-610UZ offers a 22x zoom lens (28-616mm equivalent), which is up from 15x zoom on the SP-600UZ, and image stabilization built-in.  Other upgrades include a 14MP sensor (up from 12MP) and a 3-inch LCD (up from 2.7-inch).

The SP-610UZ captures 720p video and is compatible with SDXC memory cards.  The SP-610UZ should be available in February at an initial retail price of $229.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Olympus VG-120

The Olympus VG-120 is a new compact camera introduced at CES 2011.  The VG-120 sports a 14MP sensor, 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD.  The VG-120 can capture 720p HD video at 30fps.

The VG-120 should be available this month at an initial retail price of $139.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

JVC 4K2K Camcorder at CES 2011

JVC presented a concept 4K2K “consumer” camcorder at CES 2011.  Just looking at the camera though, I have a tough time classifying it as a consumer model.  And while JVC was mum on a target price point, $2000 is about what I would put at the top-end of the consumer price range, which would seem to be a little low for a camera of this caliber. Samsung WB210 and PL210

The Samsung WB210 and PL210 are new 14MP point and shoot cameras.

The Samsung WB210 features a 12x optical zoom lens (24-288mm equivalent) with the ability to enable a super wide angle mode that locks the lens at 21mm.  The WB210 also features a 3.5-inch touch screen display with Samsung’s new Smart Access UI system and the ability to capture 720p HD videos.  The WB210 should be available in February 2011 at an initial retail price of $279.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

The Samsung PL210 features a 10x optical zoom lens (27-270mm equivalent), a 3-inch LCD and 720p HD video capture.  The PL210 should be availalbe in February 2011 at an initial retail price of $199.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.
