Canon G11

The Canon G11 is a 10-megapixel point and shoot camera with many advanced features geared toward the enthusiast photographer.  The PowerShot G11 follows the 14.7-megapixel G10 with Canon taking a dead-aim at reducing noise on the camera’s tiny sensor and optimizing the balance of resolution and noise control.

Camera Labs

The PowerShot G11 continues Canon’s strategy for recent G-series models by essentially taking the previous version, adding a handful of new features and reinstating some from earlier classics.

Digital Camera Info

The G11 scored very highly on our tests of the resolution of images: in our tests, the images were consistently sharp across the zoom range and had low chromatic aberration.

Pocket-lint

Solid feel contender for enthusiastic amateurs wanting a more portable back up for their existing DSLR, without sacrificing too much in the way of manual control.

Luminous Landscape

What I see is that the G11 has about a one stop advantage over the G10, and both look quite good up to and including ISO 200.

PhotographyBLOG

With the G11 taken on its own terms, although the lens in use can’t be swapped, the broader than average 28-140mm equivalent focal range makes for a wealth of creative possibilities from landscapes to portraiture.

Cnet UK

The Canon PowerShot G11 offers excellent photograph quality and options for a compact camera, and the downshift from the old PowerShot G10’s 14-megapixel sensor to a 10-megapixel one has paid dividends.

ePhotozine

For the photographer who wants to go out and get quality results without the need for a full DSLR system, the G11 is perfect and I think the drop in resolution was the right way to go judging by the performance and noise tests.

Wired UK

Crucially, despite the lower pixel count, images from the G11’s sensor are an improvement over its predecessor.

Gizmodo

I like this camera a lot. It’s what I’d reach for whenever I wouldn’t feel like tugging along a honkin’ DSLR, and I’d feel like I wasn’t sacrificing too much.

What Digital Camera

Timeless design, excellent image quality, vari-angle LCD one of the best of its type

Tech Radar

The PowerShot G11 is a very flexible compact with many power features normally associated with SLRs.
