Think Tank Photo has just released their new Airport TakeOff rolling camera backpack. The new camera bag has a telescopic handle and wheels for pulling it around airports or other smooth surfaces. The Airport TakeOff also has handles in place for vertical and horizontal toting positions, as well as backpack straps when you need to throw it over your shoulders for a trek.
The new bag appears to essentially be a wheeled version of the Airport Addicted v.2.0, which can hold a lot of gear.
The Airport TakeOff is available at an initial retail price of $299. You can check availability on Think Tank Photo’s website.

Think Tank Photo Airport TakeOff News Release
Santa Rosa, Calif. – Think Tank Photo announces the release of a new standard in rolling camera backpacks, the Airport TakeOff™. It is designed as a transportation solution that combines the portability of a backpack with the ease of a rolling suitcase. Converting it to and from a rolling camera bag to a comfortable backpack is so easy because the straps can be simply tucked away to start rolling immediately, or, they can be completely zipped inside the rear panel.

- Holds up to a 300mm f/2.8 and other assorted lenses
- Quickly deployable and concealable backpack straps
- Front cable and lock to secure laptops
- Lockable zipper sliders
- Transports tripods or monopods easily
- Adjustable sternum straps for tailored usage
- Holds Think Tank’s Artificial Intelligence 15 protective laptop case
“Think Tank Photo raised the bar with the release of our Airport series of rollers and backpacks,” said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank Photo president and lead designer. “We were the first company to design large bags so that they complied with airline carry-on requirements and provided extra security measures. With the Airport TakeOff we’ve taken the best of what we learned in designing those product lines and combined them into a rugged rolling backpack that will help photographers and multimedia shooters safely transport their gear from one location to the next.”

I really like this backpack that is also carry-on. Much convenient for some travellers
I was really hesitating if buying this one or not (when it was time to buy a backpack/case for my gear)
One of the factors that drove my decision, though, was the price (a bit high compared to other options)
It’s also a very nice option if you don’t need a hard case for your equipment, and it’s full of handy features (I really like the option to carry it as backpack if needed, although is not the main purpose. Also seems to be very well made, good materials and design.)
Thinktank, always very good quality products. Keep on making good stuf!
Thanks to Eric too for posting this article. It might be very interesting to many photographers who doesn’t have a carry-on system or big backpack yet.
