Video features help sell Nikons. We own video cameras also. There are instances where video adds. The
ability to shoot at 12,800 ISO like the D3s would also SELL cameras. Compare D300 to D90. The newer camera
(D90) actually outperforms D300 in some areas. Let us hope the D700 replacement is a landmark camera. The
Canon Mark II D5 is winning converts, but veteran Nikon users with great glass will wait (within reason) for the D700 replacement.

Who cares about video. The video feature sucks on these nikons anyway. I just want to be able to shoot at 12,800 ISO like the D3s does.

The Nikon D700 replacement, D700s or D800 will have to have video. I don’t use it much on my high end DX cameras but it can make a sale, and is a very impressive addition to Nikon 35mm. I own a whole fleet of Nikons, but not FX yet. I intend on doing FX when video is added. I OWN movie cameras by the way. And F5s. The D3x and D3s are just priced out of almost the entire market. NASA and pros who don’t need as portable as I do have already bought one, or are waiting for the same thing. Improved low light, dynamic range, maybe higher res….but video is a more important feature than you realize. I rarely use it. When I do it is amazing. But then I have filmed fairly decent budget movies. HD video is going to be a requirement. 1080 not just 720.

Me not interested in video too. I hope they improve on the sensor size (24Mp sound good), better DR, and better ISO (hopefully clean @ 25,600 with NR). ha, ha.

Waiting for a D700s with 18 MP instead of 24 Mp and filmode in 4K
instead of 720p or 1080p.

4K = 4 times better then 1080p 8MP resolution

after 45 years work with nikon d 700 grea but i dont care for video .d3x very
expensive . and allready made a d300s . whjat is wrong with nikon .if they come with d700 s . i will sale all my stufe . go to canon . low prise

As of now, I DO care about all the extra bells and whistles. Am already saving up for the D700 which is a kick @ss of a camera but it would be a real damper if the D700s/x is released and I have already bought the D700! I don’t mind waiting and spending a little extra dough and getting a better D700 series. Personally, I’d prefer the S over the X upgrade.

I don’t really care about video either, well, at least are my needs not higher than what can be satisfied with a 640×480 video from a P&S, but I fear that the price of the D700S will just be a ted higher.
The D300 hasn’t moved a bit in it’s price, at least here in Germany. It’s available for about 1200 Euro since more than six months, while the D300S sells around 1600 Euro.

Only thing I hope is that the 7D will have an impact on prices(at least the D300(S)), but just hearing that it features a 18mp APS-C sensor, gives me doubts that this camera will convince anyone…

Don’t care about the addition of video, but I do hope the “old” D700 goes on sale.
