I will wait for the PMA 2009 announcement...if Nikon does not come out with fast primes (24mm/35mm and 85mm) and something like 70-200mm f4 VR, I will switch to Canon.
Nikon has been very slow in responding to demands from professionals. Probably it is now more geared towards the cunsumer market. Sad.

Hi,
Switching back from Canon to Nikon, I regret Nikon doesn't offer glass similar to some of Canon's: MPE-65 macro (goes from 1:1 to 5:1!), and very portable and stabilised 70-200 f4 and 300mm f4 (I had the current nikon 300mm f4 it's a gem!) - how long should I still wait for the 300 mm f4 VR - or would this be too much competition with the current, heavy and expensive f2,8 VR?
Here in Belgium rebates started on the 80-400 (-100 euros), the 70-200 VR (-150 euros) ... but also on some of the newest glass.

I'd love to see an AFS version of the 80-400mm vr in an affordable price range meaning under $2K

I was told that they would be making a 70-210 with a lower minimal focal length incorporating new things and keep the old 70-200
just what i heard

Geez!
Who needs these, release those fast primes for dx, the 50mm 1.4 G was a good start but make them wider!

I was hoping that Nikon would come out with a 70-200mm f/4 VR to compete with Canons 70-200mm f/4 IS. Why would nikon make a perfectly good lens even bigger and more expensive by adding a half stop?? I am genuinely thinking of switching to Canon because of the 70-200 f/4 IS, for its convenience of price and weight. I really hope Nikon will have a 70-200 f/4 in the near future.
