Nikon D-90 images is slightly cleaner than the Nikon D-300. The Nikon D-700 is slightly cleaner than the D-90.

It would have been nice if Nikon could jump to the next step up from 10MP to 16.7MP

12MP or even 14MP is a baby step up not a full step. At this rate 2MP increase every two years it will be slow going at Nikon. Dave Dentry at Nikon is asleep please wake him up.

1) Yes, Nikons tend to use less sharpening when shooting in JPEG format. That is completely true. Why? I don’t know, to avoid possible artifacts? Moirè? Not sure.
What I’m sure of, though, is that you can increase the sharpness of the picture during conversion (via the menu), or you can directly shoot RAW, and you will get the same sharpness as any Canon or any other brand.
Plus, this also depends of what type of lens you use. Crappy lenses will always result in poor sharpening.

2) Newer cameras not only present a MP advantage, but, majorly, present an upgraded processor, higher A/D conversion ratio, better sealing, improved AF spots, and the list goes on and on. So, while this might not affect the picture greatly for the popular eye, it might for the photographer, so these upgrades are always welcome.

3) And yes, Canon is outselling Nikon, but, in the end, who manufactured the fist “affordable” dSLR? This market is like a leapfrog race. And I dare to say Nikon is somewhat ahead…

Nikon vs. Canon arguments are retarded… I’m just pulling out the facts here, and I gave my personal opinion. Either stick with it or argument against it. In the end, they’re just cameras that do not take pictures by themselves; photographers do.

BTW, I used both systems.

You go girl! Sounds like you got a little sand in your mangina. It all depends on what you are trying to shoot. Low light and high ISO? Nikon has Canon beat no question. Landscapes.. buy a Canon. Then again, if you have 10K in glass, well.. sounds like you’ll be sticking with whatever you have.

It would be nice if Nikon could improve the sharpness of Nikon images. The Canon d 450 has a sharper image than the Nikon D-3.

The D-90 is only going to be a 12MP camera and the difference of the D-80 10MP Image and the D-300 at 20″ x 30″ is zero. I must assume the D-90 will be a D-300 image quality.

Nikon is out of it, please do not wake them. Canon is out selling Nikon and if Nikon continues so will I go Canon.
