Thank you for providing such a great service. This was very helpful in choosing a host for my photos. How would you personally compare senfolio and smugmug?

Bytephoto has been under new ownership since November 2009.
From 2003-2009 there were weekly POTW contests with 1 winner each week.

We now have 6 categories with 36 finalists chosen each week and 6 winners.

Those 6 category winners go on to be voted at the end of the month.
The 6 POTM winners go on to be voted for Photo of the Quarter.

Each POTQ winner (6) wins a 24x36 gallery wrapped canvas from Canvas on Demand.

The POTQ winners will go on to compete for Photo of the Year, prized to be determined.

A lot of great photographers all willing to help with friendly critiques each week. Beginners to professionals make up the Bytephoto community.

If you join, let us know you found us here :)
We are also on Facebook

I have used Phanfare since its first year of operation. I find it an amazing service. I find it has all the functionality of Smugmug and it is just so much easier to use. I have over 105GB of images and video's taken of our family and friends over the years posted online. I have peace of mind that these treasures will be available in the future. They use Amazon s3 or 99.999999999% durability. I can set up websites just for school events or sport teams the kids are on. It is easy and fast to use. Integrates with my iphone. It is the best investment in technology I make each year. They really understand what the needs are for families that want to recreate photo albums online and have the ability to share those albums with security to family and friends. I don't recommend free sites as I found out you get what you pay for. I can recommend Phanfare.

I have a free Flickr account and then I got a Picasa Web Album as part of my Google account. More recently, I signed up for Panoramio, another Google service. Flickr crashed when I uploaded files from my dad's Nikon D80, which I can upload to both Google sites without trouble. Both of these are free accounts; there's a 1GB limit on Picasa and 2GB for Panoramio.

A great free photo sharing website is www.theeasyview.com It is surprisingly simple to use with many features. This is the only photo sharing site I use now.

Hi Eric,
Thank you for all this info. You really need to visit http://megashot.net and see what it is, and what it offers. It is a decade ahead of these other sites you have mentioned with so many new way of doing thing.
