The D60 is the most boring DSLR announced prior to PMA2008.
Differences from the D40X are very trivial. The VR on the lens is perhaps the most useful new feature.

Looks like Nikon blew it to me. If you want to attract entry level DSLR users, you give them a big (3 inch) screen and live view. You could basically throw out 95% of the other features and new users would still love it. And 3 focus points, what up with that???

All I can say is if Nikon doesn't come out with a D90 soon I will be seriously considering swithching back to Canon.

Well looks like another AF-S only camera from nikon. This alone is a turn-off for most people. People waited for a 3" LCD , live-view on a sub-$1000 DSLR.. Guess thats gonna be quite a while, for the next version of the D80.
But anyways good to see active d-lighting,good metering and expeed there.

A reduced price D80 still looks good ;)

Interesting!

What was the issue with the D40/D40X around auto-focus?? The body didn't support AF or some such thing?? As I vaguely recall the D40/D40X have no contacts in the mount...etc.... I wonder if the same holds true for this new model?

Anyone?
